IFMK Law prevails in 14th Amendment Rights Case in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
A former detainee at an Illinois county jail filed suit in federal court against several corrections officers at the jail alleging that the officers committed excessive force and failed to intervene in the use of excessive force against him during a cell extraction, in violation of his fourteenth amendment rights. IFMK Law attorneys Julie Koerner and Lance Neyland represented the officers in the case. After a two-day bench trial and post-trial briefing, Judge Valderrama of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois ruled in the officers’ favor, holding that the plaintiff failed to establish that the defendants violated any of his constitutional rights.
